Tell us a little bit about yourself. What do you do outside the gym?
If I’m not at Hardware, you’ll find me playing with data, walking my greyhounds, admiring a tree, or with my nose in a book.
What initially got you into training, and what keeps you coming back?
I was looking for something local and more interesting than a cookie-cutter gym. I saw the giant tires outside HW and decided to give it a shot. In my first class, Coach Parker was singing and doing high kicks—I was immediately hooked. No matter how I feel or what’s going on in the world, every day I go to HW is the right choice.
What are your fitness goals? How close are you to reaching them?
I want to be strong enough to do a Nik + Jazz + Oscar + Santana + Felix weighted carry. So far, I have the greyhounds… so I’m working on it.
What’s an accomplishment or goal you’ve reached at Hardware that makes you the most proud?
• Year 1: Handstands
• Year 2: Strict pull-ups
• Year 3: Handstand push-ups
Favorite WOD/movement?
Toes to rings and toes to bar
Least favorite WOD/movement?
Thrusters—especially after attempting Hildy.
Any advice for someone interested in trying out Hardware?
This is a love-at-first-WOD experience, so take the leap. Come for the muscles, stay for the joy and community.
