TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOURSELF. WHAT DO YOU DO OUTSIDE OF THE GYM?
I live in the city with my husband Chris (also a member). I work in Operations for an aftermarket distributor of Aircraft parts for commercial planes. It’s a really interesting and niche area and one I kind of stumbled into to.
In our spare time, we like to hang with friends, visit breweries and travel. Since Covid, we have been spending part of the winter in AZ visiting family, which has been fun!
WHAT INITIALLY GOT YOU INTO TRAINING AND WHAT KEEPS YOU COMING BACK?
Like a lot of members, I am a former athlete who really struggled finding something active to do after college. I fully burnt out from swimming in college so that was not an option. I tried running, ‘regular gyms’, etc. but nothing was really that exciting that made me want to go back every day. I found Crossfit through Coach Mat’s wife, Teresa, and fell in love with the whole thing. I keep coming back because we have developed long lasting friendships with many members at the gym and the training never gets old.
WHAT ARE YOUR FITNESS GOALS? HOW CLOSE ARE YOU TO REACHING THEM?
I’ve struggled with some injuries over the past year, so my current goal is to stay healthy! That and get my strict chin-ups back!
WHAT’S AN ACCOMPLISHMENT OR GOAL YOU’VE REACHED AT HARDWARE THAT MADE YOU THE MOST PROUD?
My biggest accomplishments are: completing Fran Rx (it took me almost 15 minutes, but I did it!), completing a full Open Rx and stringing together 3 strict chin ups.
This is easy – Overhead Squats and Snatches.
LEAST FAVORITE WOD/MOVEMENT?
Also easy – Back Squats and Wall Walks.
ANY ADVICE FOR SOMEONE INTERESTED IN TRYING OUT HARDWARE?
Just do it – it’s definitely terrifying going into a new gym but it will be well worth it.
